Ben leads Wotton Kearney’s Asia practice and advises on all aspects of insurance and reinsurance law, with a strong focus on property, energy, construction and engineering, and infrastructure risks. He has spent his entire professional career in the insurance sector advising on high-value, complex and specialist lines claims and non-contentious insurance matters. After more than a decade advising on international insurance disputes from London, Ben relocated to Singapore in 2011 and advises insurance sector clients across Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa.

In addition to advising on both facultative and treaty reinsurance disputes across all classes of business, Ben has particular expertise advising on risk in the power generation and distribution sector and infrastructure development projects. He advises extensively on large and complex claims arising from operational power risks, CAR/EAR and related DSU/ALOP, trade credit, security/performance bonds, industrial and commercial product liability, natural catastrophe, and losses under multinational insurance programmes.

Ben’s trademark is his focus on using his sector expertise and firm grasp of real-world commerce to drive complex and high-stake disputes to commercial, practical and sustainable outcomes.

Ben also plays an active role supporting the continuing growth and development of the (re)insurance sector in Asia. He is a regular speaker at events in Singapore and Southeast Asia and is a committee member of the Asia Power Forum.

Ben has been consistently recognised as a leading insurance lawyer in Singapore, achieving a Band 1 ranking in Chambers Asia-Pacific and named a leading individual by The Legal 500.
