Wotton Kearney has expanded its presence in Asia with the appointment of cyber and financial lines expert Pippa Austin as Special Counsel in Singapore.

Pippa first joined Wotton Kearney as part of the Financial Lines team in Sydney in 2017. She now returns with two team members to advance Wotton Kearney’s offering in the provision of cyber incident response services and financial lines and cyber coverage advice across the Southeast Asia region.

Pippa brings a wealth of experience acting for both Singapore-based and international (re)insurers in the cyber and financial lines sectors. Pippa and her team have advised organisations through major cyber events including acting as breach coach, as well as advising in relation to privacy risk. Pippa also advises carriers on complex insurance and reinsurance financial lines coverage issues, and has acted in arbitrations in London and Asia.

Kieran Doyle, Head of Cyber, Data and Technology at Wotton Kearney, said the appointment reflects growing client demand for on-the-ground cyber expertise in Asia.

“Pippa’s appointment in Singapore strengthens our ability to deliver cyber incident response and data privacy advice across the APAC region. Her experience enhances the support we provide to clients facing increasingly complex cyber risks and together with our Thailand team, allows us to service a significantly broader cyber market in South East Asia.”

Commenting on her appointment, Pippa said: “I am thrilled to be returning to Wotton Kearney with my team. We are looking forward to working alongside our clients and colleagues across Asia Pacific to help them navigate today’s complex and fast-evolving cyber risk landscape and advising in relation to financial lines issues.”

The appointment follows the recent addition of Cyber Partner Lana Remedi in Sydney and underscores Wotton Kearney’s continued growth across Asia Pacific.

Speaking about the firm’s continued growth across the region, Ben Nicholson, Wotton Kearney’s Managing Partner – Asia, said, “we are very grateful to have had tremendous support since we first opened in Singapore and are delighted to now be able to offer clients in Singapore and South East Asia a specialist cyber incident response & coverage and financial lines offering.”

Founded in 2002, Wotton Kearney now has 99 partners and more than 500 legal professionals across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Thailand.
