Natalie is an experienced personal injury lawyer, who has worked at both plaintiff and defendant firms. She has significant career experience specialising in insurance claims, including in relation to compulsory third party insurance and statutory workers’ compensation. Her current focus is on public liability, occupier’s liability and historical abuse.

In addition, she has significant in-depth experience advising Commonwealth and Territory agencies and private sector clients on work, health and safety, risk and regulatory compliance and employment law.

Natalie has extensive advocacy and dispute resolution experience and has appeared in State and Territory courts and tribunals (including the Australian Human Rights Commission), and on behalf of clients at mediations and settlement conferences.

General Liability

  • Acting for property managers and occupiers of shopping malls, apartment complexes and retail premises in claims involving slip and fall accidents. These claims have involved pursuing contribution from owners, contractors and property managers, minimising exposure to the occupier and reducing overall claim costs.
  • Providing coverage and defence advice to global insurers on complex personal injury claims involving multiple co-defendants arising from incidents involving constructions zones, clubs and public spaces.
  • Successfully obtaining two cost orders in a claim involving historical child institutional abuse.
  • Defending common law institutional liability claims on behalf of organisations and religious institutions including drafting pleadings, attending informal settlement conferences and court ordered mediations, and assessing quantum and liability issues.
  • Acting for the Default Insurance Fund on various matters in relation to personal injury claims arising from dust-related diseases.

Government

  • Advising the Department of the House of Representatives on work health and safety procedures, including conducting an audit of its work health and safety policies.
  • Assisting senior lawyers in advising a Commonwealth Department on COVID-19 policies and its work health and safety obligations.
