Kerry specialises in advising both insurer and insured clients in general liability matters, property and energy claims, and regulatory matters involving statutory compliance. She regularly provides indemnity advice to insurers in respect of complex property damage and statutory liability claims. Kerry has advised on Christchurch earthquake claims for both material damage and alleged defective repairs.

Having previously worked in a general practice in Blenheim, she has worked with a wide range of rural businesses including agriculture, aquaculture, and viticultural operators on a wide range of resource management issues affecting their businesses and now acts for insureds in respect of statutory compliance and regulatory issues. She acts for insureds in respect of general liability issues across a wide range of industries.

  • Acting on subrogated recoveries in respect of material damage and business interruption claims.
  • Acting in defence of insurers in respect of indemnity disputes, including in litigated claims.
  • Acting in defence of insureds in respect of public/product liability, professional liability, and general liability claims.
  • Acting in defence of insureds in respect of Resource Management Act 1991 investigations and prosecutions.
  • Auditing loss reserves in respect of professional liability claims held by various law firms in New Zealand for a London underwriter.
