During his time at WK, Ioanne has worked with insurers, adjusters and experts to assess claims made under various first party property policies, including contract works and ISR.
Ioanne prides himself on providing effective communication and high-quality problem-solving skills for all claims he is involved with, and also helps lead the PE+I teams adoption and implementation of AI to help advise clients quicker and more cost-effectively.
- Representing insurers in subrogated recovery proceedings arising from property damage claims, including claims involving alleged negligence or misleading and deceptive conduct under Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
- Assisting with the successful defence of a multi-million-dollar industrial special risks (ISR) insurance claim in the Supreme Court of Victoria, stemming from the EPA exercising its powers under section 62 of the Environment Protection Act 1970 (Vic) to remove and dispose of large stockpiles of glass fines, or glass mixed with ceramic, stone and porcelain materials.
- Assisting in advising on coverage and identifying potential avenues of recovery in connection with major power generation losses across Australia.
- Advising insurers on the protection of legal professional privilege and coordinating the appointment of experts and other consultants to assist with the assessment of claims.
