Hayley has deep experience across the Fisheries and Maritime sector. She guides clients through the full prosecutorial process, from investigation and charging through to sentencing and relief from forfeiture, with advocacy experience in the District and High Courts and through mediation. She has represented companies and individuals prosecuted under the Health and Safety at Work Act, Maritime Transport Act and Fisheries Act, often negotiating reduced charges and sentences.

She also advises on employment, contractual and immigration matters, including crewing, work visas and residency applications, and has strong working relationships with Immigration New Zealand, Maritime New Zealand and the Ministry for Primary Industries.

Hayley is the updating author of Fisheries Law and Fisheries Precedents (Thomson Reuters), and has governance experience as a former Board of Trustees member.
