Emily is a solicitor in Wotton Kearney’s Auckland office. She predominantly assists with Healthcare and Cyber, Privacy and Data security matters by undertaking legal research, executing document reviews, drafting letters for insureds on matters related to medico-legal and drafting advice for insureds on matters related to privacy breaches and cyber-attacks.

  • Providing assistance to a GP practice who suffered a significant cyber-attack by drafting privacy advice, undertaking a document review of exfiltrated data, and preparing final privacy notification advice to the practice.
  • Undertaking a document review of a sensitive business email compromise.
  • Providing secondary assistance to Wotton Kearney’s Healthcare team by assisting healthcare professionals on matters under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003, the Privacy Act 2020, the Health and Disability Commissioner Act 1994 and the Coroners Act 2006. Emily also assists healthcare professionals in responding to Medical Council of New Zealand complaints.
