Caitlin’s focus is civil litigation (both defence and subrogated recoveries) and disciplinary investigations.  Caitlin specialises in the defence of a wide range of professionals , including real estate agents, engineers, architects, surveyors, pre-purchase inspectors and solicitors.

Caitlin takes a commercial approach to her work, focusing on achieving resolution at the earliest stage and is a strong advocate for her clients. She ensures that clients are at ease when they are navigating unfamiliar territory.

Caitlin is passionate about pro bono work and assists with refugee reunification work as part of Wotton Kearney’s pro bono programme and is part of Wotton Kearney’s Corporate Social Responsibility Committee and Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

In 2026, she was recognised by NZ Lawyer as a ‘Future Legal Leader’ and in 2025 she was a finalist for Young Insurance Professional of the Year at the ANZIIF Awards.

Professional Liability

  • Favourable results in front of the Real Estate Authority, Real Estate Agents Disciplinary Tribunal, Solicitors’ Standards Committees and the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal.
  • Assisting defence and settlement of proceedings brought against pre-purchase inspectors, engineers, architects and surveyors involving high value residential and commercial buildings.
  • Advising and assisting with professional negligence claims against design and construction professionals in leaky building and defect claims in the High Court.
  • Assisting on the successful strike-out of a claim against a solicitor and the recovery of costs awarded.
  • Assisting on a successful application for a stay of proceedings under the Trans-Tasman Proceedings Act 2010.

Recoveries

  • Assisting on large-scale subrogated recoveries involving over 100 plaintiffs and subrogated recoveries involving multi-jurisdictional issues.
  • Successfully pursuing subrogated recovery claims for insurers and insureds, including recoveries arising out of forest fires, product damage and heavy machinery.

Product Liability

  • Assisting on a large scale product liability claim involving multiple third parties across an international supply chain.
