Eliza has over 25 years of experience in insurance law both as a practising lawyer and within corporate management. Eliza was ranked as a leading Medical Negligence & Malpractice (Defendant) lawyer in NSW in 2023 and 2024.
Eliza has specialised in health and medical negligence, working exclusively in this area since 2004. Eliza worked in various private practices before spending close to a decade at one of Australia’s leading Medical Defence Organisations, including as the NSW head of claims where she oversaw civil portfolio. During her time in his role Eliza undertook a risk review of liabilities to rectify unprecedented budgetary challenges following COVID-19. This involved working with quantitate analytics to establish better forecasting and management.

Matter attracted global media attention including USA Today show and matter resolved to client’s expectations.

Representing a psychiatrist in District Court proceedings brought by a former inpatient of mental health facility who had been admitted under his care. The plaintiff alleged that the psychiatrist had inappropriately increased the doses of his medications causing him to suffer a seizure and neurological damage. The case was settled with a judgment in favour the psychiatrist the day before the Court ordered mediation.
