Laura assists to lead the firm’s access to justice and strategic litigation casework and contributes to the firm’s law reform practice.

Laura has substantial experience leading pro bono practices in large firms and is an experienced litigator with broad experience assisting individuals and not-for-profit organisations in complex and sensitive cases on a wide range of access to justice and public interest issues.

Known for her collaborative and inclusive leadership, strategic thinking, solutions-driven approach and care for her clients, Laura is driven by a passion for social justice and desire to achieve outcomes for clients and communities.

Laura also has a proud history of working with the community legal sector in her pro bono practice and through previous roles as Principal Solicitor of the Justice and Equity Centre and as a solicitor at the North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency, and has been a volunteer Board Director in the sector since 2016.

  • Representing clients in State and Federal Tribunals and State, Federal and High Courts.
  • Acting in discrimination, administrative review and tort claims for young people, First Nations people, people with disability and refugees and asylum seekers.
  • Acting for families in coronial inquiries and witnesses to the Royal Commission into the Protection and Detention of Children in the Northern Territory and the Royal Commission in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry.
  • Advising on a wide range of law reform and human rights issues including discrimination law, consent to medical treatment, access to health care, and the incorporation of international law into domestic law.
  • Acting in broader public matters including to advise on test cases, SLAPP suits against not-for-profit organisations and as part of the legal team representing former ACT Attorney-General Mr Bernard Collaery to defend charges brought under the National Security Information (Criminal and Civil Proceedings) Act 2004.
  • Advising not-for-profit organisations on corporate governance, workplace investigations and legal practice management issues.
