Emily is a solicitor within the Healthcare and Cyber, Data & Technology teams at our Auckland office.

Contributing to both teams, she conducts legal research and document reviews, guides health practitioners through regulatory investigations, complaints proceedings, and court matters, and prepares advisory communications for insureds dealing with privacy breaches and cyber-attacks.

  • Advising healthcare professionals on regulatory matters governed by the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003, the Privacy Act 2020, the Health and Disability Commissioner Act 1994, and the Coroners Act2006, with appearances in Coronial Inquiries and before the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal.
  • Appeared as Junior Counsel to King’s Counsel before the Court of Appeal on the non-publication threshold applicable to Health Practitioners.
  • Appeared as Junior Counsel to King’s Counsel in proceedings before the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal.
  • Supported healthcare professionals through Medical Council of New Zealand complaint responses, including competence and disciplinary inquiry processes.
  • Provided cyber breach response support during system compromises, guiding insureds through incident containment, preparing notifications, and assisting with post-incident investigations.
  • Represented major medication management platform in responding to a cyber-attack, which included preparing an interim injunction application before the High Court.
