Sarah is a senior associate in the general liability team with a focus on defending personal injury and property damage claims for domestic and international insurers. She has diverse experience in litigation and dispute resolution, acting for builders, contractors, sporting bodies, host employers, occupiers of commercial premises, owners’ corporations and retailers.
She takes a practical and commercial approach to address often complex contractual and indemnity obligations, as well as liability and quantum issues.
- Defending a claim brought against a head contractor in respect of a s 151Z recovery claim for payments made to a subcontracted worker onsite, in which the matter settled prior to the hearing for a judgment in favour of the client.
- Acting on behalf of principal contractors, subcontractors and builders in respect of both property damage and personal injury claims arising out of incidents on construction sites with multiple defendants.
- Achieving a recovery of close to 80% of damages paid and incurred legal fees in a subrogated recovery action against a subcontractor of the insured for damages paid for property damage.
