Mia advises local and international insurers on large, complex cyber insurance coverage matters and disputes, including matters that involve highly sensitive breaches and cyber attacks. She is currently involved in some of the largest and most significant cyber breaches in the regional insurance market.

Mia is also a part of Wotton Kearney’s technology liability team and has experience in advising local and global insurers on technology liability claims (both coverage and defence) and recoveries arising from cyber claims.

Mia understands the commercial needs of insurers and how they operate, having successfully completed multiple secondments with a large commercial insurer. Mia is able to distinguish between the technicalities of the law and the commercial reality to provide the practical advice clients expect.

  • Acting for a large international market in a potential subrogated recovery worth in excess of $115 million.
  • Acting as incident response manager and privacy counsel in numerous cyber matters impacting all types of businesses, from SMEs to large multinational firms. These matters have involved working with IT forensics, providing privacy advice and preparing submissions to the OAIC.
  • Advising a multinational engineering consulting firm on its contractual confidentiality and privacy obligations following a breach of its global communications platform.
