He has a particular focus on advising on policy coverage and indemnity issues across a number of lines.
Jack is seasoned litigator with experience in conducting complex litigation in superior courts, including before the Full Court of the Federal Court and the High Court of Australia. He prides himself on providing technically astute and pragmatic advice that is focused on obtaining commercial outcomes for insurers and their insureds.
Jack was formerly a councillor of the Law Society of WA, the Chair of the Law Society of WA’s Young Lawyers Committee, member of the Law Council of Australia’s Young Lawyers Committee, and a long-standing member of the editorial committee of the Law Society’s publication, Brief.
- Acting for global construction company and its London-based insurers in successfully defending proceedings brought in the District Court of WA relating to injuries suffered by subcontractor during the construction of the Perth Stadium Project.
- Acting for a WA Government instrumentality and its London-based insurers in successfully defending proceedings brought in the District Court of WA relating to injuries suffered during the construction of a railway station.
- Advising insurers on coverage under Industrial Special Risks’ policies and subsequent subrogated recovery actions relating to a number of significant fires in commercial warehouses around Australia where quantum exceeded $4m.
- Advising international insurers on a complex coverage dispute for business interruption losses following acts of terrorism overseas, with loss claimed in excess of $10m.
- Advising several insurers under a hull and marine liability policy on a coverage dispute arising from a fire to a vessel with loss claimed in excess of $8m.
