Connect with meIsabelle has experience in handling a wide range of liability claims and particularly focuses on the areas of public liability, professional liability, medico-legal and life sciences, and statutory liability. She has a strong focus on dispute resolution, having assisted with defending insureds in court and tribunal proceedings, and alternative dispute resolution approaches, including mediation and judicial settlement conferences, and is an accredited mediator.
Isabelle also assists with advising insurers on indemnity disputes and the impact of evolving regulatory frameworks for financial services in New Zealand. Isabelle began her career with a major New Zealand life insurer in 2016 and has since worked with law firms specialising in insurance law. She was awarded the 2023 AMINZ Consensual Scholarship for mediation and the 2023 ANZIIF Young Insurance Professional of the Year. She was selected for the NZ Lawyer 2024 Rising Stars list.
- Assisting in proceedings and complaints brought against healthcare professionals and businesses, aged care providers and social workers to various regulatory bodies and the HRRT.
- Assisting with the defence of professional indemnity claims by engineers, architects, plumbers and other construction professionals.
- Advising and acting for life insurers on fraudulent claims, policy interpretation disputes and complaints, and assisting life insurers with policy wording reviews and claims and regulatory advice.
- Assisting with defending health and safety and RMA prosecutions.
- Advising on indemnity and defence of product liability claims across a range of sectors, including the food and beverage industry.
- Advising an insurer on indemnity responses for claims in relation to fire damage to residential properties where arson was alleged.
- Pursuing subrogated recovery claims for insurers, including material damage to property.
