He has represented a broad range of insurers on coverage issues and subrogated recoveries (including fire, flood and product liability) and is experienced in defending corporate insureds on behalf of insurers.
Doug previously worked at our Legalign Global partner, DAC Beachcroft LLP. While in that role, he represented insurers in the widely commented on Endurance v Sartex [2020] EWCA Civ 308 matter in the Court of Appeal, which concerned the measure of indemnity payable under a property policy.
Doug is dual qualified, admitted to practice in Australia and England and Wales.
- Acting for CAR Insurers in multibillion dollar dispute concerning the Ichthys LNG project in North Western Australia. The proceedings are in the Supreme Court of Western Australia.
- Acting for Insurers in multimillion dollar dispute concerning the $695m Pacific Highway upgrade in NSW. The proceedings are in the Federal Court.
- Acting for Insurers in a multimillion-dollar dispute concerning damage to contract works in Queensland. The proceedings are in the Supreme Court of New South Wales.
- Acting for insurers in defence of professional indemnity claims against architects, engineers and barristers, including claims arising from catastrophic failures on infrastructure projects.
- Advising directors & officers insurers regarding the extent of coverage in complex claims arising from multiparty litigation.
- Acted for insurers in defence of insureds from investigatory and/or disciplinary proceedings including by ASIC and the LCSS in Western Australia.
