Recent work
WK acted for a public-facing government agency regarding a cyber incident, following our initial work in providing the incident response. This was a highly confidential matter that involved investigating the cause and scope of the incident, engaging an IT forensic company and advising the agency of its legal obligations under the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (NSW) and Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), including assisting with any notification obligations.
WK were engaged to provide legal advice relating to a business email compromise at a leading Australian hospital. A comprehensive review was undertaken (following the findings of a forensic investigation) which identified sensitive personal information regarding several clinical trials which our client was involved with. We are assisting our client with preparing notifications to the OAIC and impacted patients and in dealing with the government agency responsible for managing the clinical trials in relation to the incident, who commenced their own investigation. The incident was a notifiable data breach under the Australian Privacy Act.
WK acted as incident response managers for an international clinical trial and medical consultancy company providing guidance and assistance in response to cyber and privacy incidents. We also provide cyber readiness training, planning and other mitigation services to the insured client to assist with preparation for response to future potential incidents.
